70th Wedding Anniversary
It’s not often you get commissioned to photograph the celebrations of a 70th Wedding Anniversary.
Married, 70 years ago in 1957, Evelyn and Edward had a simple ceremony then, with no flowers or cake, confetti or cars to add to the sparkle of their day. However, 70 years later and their daughter Belinda had a surprise in store…
Contacting us and asking for suggestions on how a family gathering could be made even more special, we were more than delighted to offer some ideas to the make the 70th Wedding Anniversary a day Evelyn and Edward would not forget.
Although the lucky couple knew something was up, they weren’t sure what. So imagine their surprise when arriving at The Lismoyne all their closest family and friends were ready and waiting for their red carpet arrival!
Whisked into the garden where the guests then seated themselves, Evelyn and Edward walked up the aisle together; Evelyn held a beautiful bouquet and Edward donned a beautiful button hole. Belinda said a few words about the celebration of the day and a family friend and church minister read some prayers.
To the delight of Evelyn and Edward they then made their way back down the aisle to sprinkles of white confetti falling all around them, with beaming smiles.
After a drinks reception and much conversation to be had with the guests I suspect the two of them were quite enjoying their special day. After the lunch had been eaten, the band, led by Great Grand-daughter, Megan sung beautifully some heart warming songs by Frank Sinatra to which both Evelyn and Edward had their ‘first dance’.
Cutting the cake, really was the icing on their day and we have no doubt that this was day full of special moments that all the family will cherish.
